Even though a bunch of trends for the past are coming back in style through thrifting and Tik Tok trends, there are still five vintage trends that we think need a revival.
Overalls
To start off the list, we have something that has been coming in and out of style inconsistently for years: Overalls. We argue that they should come back for two reasons. One, they’re extremely comfortable. And two, you can wear them in any season. You can wear them with a nice comfy sweater for the winter and fall or with a t-shirt in the summer and spring. They always look good and they look amazing on everyone!
1950s Swing Dress
The unrealistic expectations of women in the 1950s (and before as well as onwards) resulted in unhealthy mindsets. However, now that body positivity is becoming more and more accepted in our modern-day culture, we purpose to bring back these dresses! Anyone can wear them and they don’t even have to be tight around the waist. They’re just so fun and cute, they come in amazing colours and patterns. They’re perfect for the summer and one day we hope to see everyone wearing one.
1960s Shift Dress
As it was in the 1960s, the shift dress is a big difference from the swing dress. Looser around every curve and made with vibrant, bright colours. Again, another dress that’s perfect for the summer and looks amazing on every body type. They can be collared and be paired with a thin belt to conduct a more formal look. They can be a psychedelic yellow and green worn with white pearls for a day-party! This dress is so versatile and comfortable that we can’t see why it hasn’t made a come back already.
1970s Bellbottoms
These pants are often made fun of in movies and in everyday conversation but when worn with the right top and made with the right denim or patterned fabric, bellbottoms can be severely stylish. They look especially good when worn with a pair of platform shoes, a tucked-in t-shirt, and a brown belt. Again, everyone can wear these and they can be worn all year without anyone getting tired of them.
1980s Shoulder Pads
Popularized and de-popularized in the 1980s, shoulder pads can be stylish when it’s done right. They don’t need to be a hulking mass to make you look like a triangle because we all know that’s probably what you think of when you hear about them. Shoulder pads can actually be slight and small and still help accentuate your hips!
